Function: string (<expr>) Converts expr to Maximas linear notation just as if it had been typed in.

a:[H[2]];
sconcat(a,"pippo");
a*string(pippo);
string(pippo)*a;

The return value of string is a string, and thus it cannot be used in a computation.

There are also some inexact matches for string. Try ?? string to see them.
