Sign

Function: sign (<expr>) Attempts to determine the sign of <expr> on the basis of the facts in the current data base. It returns one of the following answers: pos (positive), neg (negative), zero, pz (positive or zero), nz (negative or zero), pn (positive or negative), or pnz (positive, negative, or zero, i.e. nothing known).

f:x^4+x^3-x-1;
g:diff(f,x);
p0:f;
p1:g;
a:divide(p0,p1,x);
p2:-a[2];
a:divide(p1,p2,x);
p3:-a[2];
a:divide(p2,p3,x);
p4:-a[2];
